Therapeutic Massage
Good news!! Some health insurance policies cover a portion of massage therapy services in conjunction with chiropractic treatment. If you are already a patient at Silver Chiropractic Centre, we will be happy to contact your insurance provider to determine coverage and any limitations that may apply. If you are not already a patient at Silver Chiropractic Centre, a brief initial visit with Dr. Silver is required for referral in order for insurance to be billed appropriately.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage employs techniques that are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. Deep tissue massage helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques. Deep tissue massage releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through the use of slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas, either following or moving across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate restrictions. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Long, stretching strokes are utilized to release the muscular tension. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain and headaches.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is soft-tissue manipulation that balances the body’s central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system. The goal is to help relieve the pain and dysfunction by understanding and alleviating the underlying cause. Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience distortion and biomechanical dysfunction, which is often a symptom of a deeper problem. Neuromuscular therapy applies concentrated finger pressure to “trigger points” (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. It is also used to locate and release spasms and hyper-contraction in the tissue, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissues, and restore postural alignment, proper biomechanics and flexibility to the tissues.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Swedish massage uses a system of long strokes, as well as kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The many benefits of Swedish massage include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation, which can speed healing and reduce swelling from injury. Swedish massage may be light pressure or much deeper pressure, depending on the situation.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries, alleviate inflammation, provide warm-up and cool down for athletes before, during, after their training regimens. Sports massage focuses on muscle systems relevant to a particular sport.
